Where to Stay in Hawley, PA

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Where you stay around Hawley can change the feel of the trip quite a bit. Some visitors want a walkable hotel near restaurants and bars downtown, while others come specifically for lakefront resorts or larger family-focused properties around Lake Wallenpaupack.

Hotels in Downtown Hawley

The most walkable part of the area and the best choice if you want easy access to restaurants, bars, and the charm of downtown Hawley itself. The three main properties here are Ledges Hotel, The Settlers Inn, and Hotel Belvidere, ranging from boutique luxury to a more traditional historic inn experience.

Resorts Along Lake Wallenpaupack

Several properties sit on or near the lake, though many technically fall in the surrounding towns despite carrying a Hawley mailing address. Silver Birches is the best-known lakeside resort in the area, while Cove Haven offers a very different experience geared more toward couples and resort-style stays.

Destination Resorts Near Hawley

You cannot talk about the broader Hawley resort scene without mentioning Woodloch Resort, one of the best-known family resorts in the Northeast. Operating since 1958, it has built a loyal following among families from the New York and Philadelphia metro areas and regularly appears in national rankings for family travel. While it is not located directly in Hawley, it is close enough that most visitors researching the area will come across it.

Downtown Hawley is the most walkable part of the area and the best choice if you want easy access to restaurants, bars, and the town itself. The three hotels below range from boutique luxury to a more traditional historic inn, but all put you close to the center of town rather than at a larger resort property outside Hawley.

DOWNTOWN HAWLEY HOTEL

The Settlers Inn

The Settlers Inn opened in 1927 around the same time nearby Lake Wallenpaupack was being developed. Built in the Arts and Crafts style, the inn features chestnut wood beams, handcrafted details, and a historic lodge atmosphere that fits well with the surrounding Pocono landscape.

The on-site farm-to-table restaurant is a top restaurant in the area, and the property itself feels more like a quiet lodge retreat than a standard hotel. The inn sits on six acres along the Lackawaxen River with gardens, outdoor seating areas, and a riverside walking path connecting it to sister property Ledges Hotel. If you are planning meals for your trip, I also put together a guide to the best restaurants in Hawley, PA, which includes both The Settlers Inn and nearby spots around town.

Hotel Belvidere

Hotel Belvidere is a historic Main Street hotel in downtown Hawley that works best for travelers who care more about location and price than luxury amenities. The rooms are fairly simple and traditional, but everything was clean and comfortable during my stay, and the hotel puts you within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and the center of town.

For me, the biggest draw was being able to have dinner downstairs at The Ridge, one of my favorite restaurants in the Hawley area, then walk to nearby bars like Pat’s Bar and the Crazy Country Club without needing to drive. I also included The Ridge in my guide to the best restaurants in Hawley, PA. If you are looking for a polished boutique hotel experience, Ledges or The Settlers Inn are probably a better fit. But for younger travelers, golf weekends, or anyone planning to spend most of their time exploring town, Hotel Belvidere is a solid budget-friendly option in a great location.

SILK MILL LOCATION

Ledges Hotel

Ledges Hotel is easily the most distinctive place to stay in Hawley. Built into the bluestone cliffs above Paupack High Falls, the property occupies part of the former O’Connor Glass Factory dating back to the 1890s. The original stone, exposed timber, and industrial structure are still very much part of the experience, along with the sound of the waterfall running through the gorge below.

Rooms range from standard guest rooms to larger one- and two-bedroom suites, and the atmosphere feels far more secluded than most properties in town despite being only a short drive from downtown Hawley in the Silk Mill area.

Breakfast is not served directly on-site, but guests receive vouchers for breakfast at sister properties The Settlers Inn or Cocoon Coffee House. The on-site Glass Wine Bar & Kitchen is one of the more scenic places to grab a drink in Hawley, with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the gorge and waterfall.

Best Resorts Near Lake Wallenpaupack & Hawley, PA

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

If you are looking for more than just a hotel room, the resorts around Hawley and Lake Wallenpaupack offer a very different type of stay. These larger properties focus on the full vacation experience, with on-site dining, activities, lake access, and resort-style amenities that can easily fill an entire weekend.

Silver Birches and Cove Haven sit directly on Lake Wallenpaupack, while Woodloch operates as more of a destination resort a short drive from town. Staying at one of these properties feels very different from booking a hotel in downtown Hawley, where the focus is more on restaurants, bars, and exploring the surrounding area.

LAKE WALLENPAUPACK

Silver Birches Resort

Silver Birches Resort Silver Birches is one of the best-known hotels near Lake Wallenpaupack and dates back to 1926. It sits directly on the lake, giving it more of a classic lakeside resort feel than the hotels closer to downtown Hawley. Along with sister properties Ledges Hotel and The Settlers Inn, it is part of the Settlers Hospitality group, which has built the strongest collections of boutique hotels and resorts in the area.

Accommodations range from standard rooms and suites to cottages and larger vacation homes, making the property a good fit for couples, families, and group trips. The resort is spread across multiple historic lakefront buildings, and nearly every room takes advantage of the waterfront setting.

The Dock on Wallenpaupack serves American food with lake views, while Lakeside Live brings outdoor music to the lawn during the summer season. Guests also have direct access to kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and other lake activities right from the property. A seasonal resort fee applies and includes access to nearby Settlers Hospitality amenities and activities.

If you are looking for a quieter lake weekend with resort amenities while still staying close to Hawley’s restaurants and breweries, Silver Birches strikes an excellent balance.

LAKE WALLENPAUPACK – COUPLES ONLY

Cove Haven Resort

Cove Haven Resort is one of the more recognizable and unique places to stay near Hawley. Located along Lake Wallenpaupack in nearby Lakeville, it is a couples-only resort built entirely around romantic getaways and all-inclusive entertainment.

The property is best known for its heart-shaped whirlpool tubs and iconic Champagne Tower suites, which have been drawing couples from the New York and Philadelphia areas for decades. The resort fully embraces its retro romantic identity, and that over-the-top atmosphere is very much part of the experience.

Unlike the more polished boutique feel of properties like Silver Birches or Ledges Hotel, Cove Haven is more about entertainment, themed suites, nightlife, and staying on property for the weekend. Activities include boating, tennis, billiards, bowling, miniature golf, spa treatments, and nightly entertainment across the resort.

If you are planning a romantic weekend near Lake Wallenpaupack and want something memorable, playful, and intentionally different from a traditional hotel stay, Cove Haven occupies a niche that very few resorts still even attempt anymore.
