I’m Stu. My family owned a small restaurant, and growing up behind the scenes ignited a passion for great food. When I started traveling, I realized that what I enjoyed was exploring the local cuisine and finding local restaurants, bars, breweries, and coffee shops. These are places that are the heart and soul of a city and are great places to meet people and learn the culture. This site is where I share what I find.
My parents took me on my first international trip to Belize when I was five years old, and I still remember some of the food and the people I met there. That trip inspired me to keep traveling as an adult.
When I met Janice, we began traveling together. She eventually moved in with me. But we soon decided it was time for another change, and we gave up our apartment in New York City to move to Mexico. We wanted to travel more, work a little less, and do a lot more living. But six months after moving to Mexico, we found out we were pregnant.
and life changed fast. Now we travel slower, staying somewhere for a few months at a time so our daughter can actually experience a place rather than just pass through it. Playa del Carmen, the Hudson Valley, Long Island, NYC, Tampa, and Miami have been our recent home bases, with some occasional international adventure mixed in. I never miss a local brewery, I take cocktails seriously, and I’ll always find the best restaurant in town before I look for the best beach.
