The Best Restaurants in Huntington, NY

Huntington Village is one of the best dining destinations on Long Island. With over 70 restaurants and bars packed into a walkable village on the North Shore, the range here is genuinely impressive. Italian, French, Persian, Mexican, Japanese kaiseki, Peruvian, craft beer gastropubs, and cocktail bars with serious kitchens behind them — the best restaurants in Huntington, NY cover more ground than most people expect from a town this size.

What makes Huntington Village worth the trip is the concentration of destination-level spots. These are not neighborhood restaurants that happen to be decent. Several draw people from across Long Island and beyond, and a few have expanded to other locations because demand outgrew the original. Getting a table at some of them requires planning ahead.

The dining scene also extends beyond the village itself. Prime sits just north in Halesite with some of the best waterfront dining on Long Island, while Caruso’s Fine Italian Foods is one of the better Italian delis in the area. Combined with the Paramount Theatre nearby, Huntington makes an easy choice for a dinner and show night out.

Whether you are looking for the best Italian restaurant in Huntington Village, a one-of-a-kind tasting menu, a French bistro lunch, or a craft cocktail bar to settle into, this guide covers the best restaurants in Huntington, NY.

Top Picks for the Best Restaurants in Huntington, NY

Before diving into the full list, here are my top picks for the best restaurants in Huntington, NY. These represent some of the most distinctive dining experiences in the village, from a Japanese kaiseki counter run by a Michelin-trained chef to a long-standing Tuscan favorite. Whether you are planning a special occasion or just want to start with the strongest options, these are the spots I would point you to first.

ITALIAN / LOCAL FAVORITE

Joanina

A Huntington Village institution open since 1998, with a Tuscan courtyard interior that genuinely transports you. The entrees, fresh pastas, and extensive Italian wine list from the attached wine shop keep locals coming back decade after decade.

BEST MODERN ITALIAN

The Farm Italy

From the team behind Besito and In The Shed, The Farm Italy brings a fresh approach to Italian cooking with house made pastas, wood-fired dishes, and a creative cocktail menu. One of the most popular restaurants in Huntington Village with locations now across Long Island.

MOST EXCITING NEW RESTAURANT

House of Yoshin

Chef Tadaaki “Zack” Ishizaki brings a Michelin-starred background to an intimate Japanese kaiseki counter in Huntington Village. The seasonal multi-course tasting menu is unlike anything else on Long Island, with a cocktail bar serving Japanese-inspired small plates that is worth visiting on its own.

UPSCALE WATERFRONT DINING

Prime

Perched on Huntington Harbor with panoramic water views, Prime is the most elevated dining experience in the area. The raw bar, dry-aged steaks, and Sunday jazz brunch make it a destination for special occasions.

Joanina

Joanina is one of those Italian restaurants in Huntington NY that locals have been returning to for decades, and it’s easy to see why. Open since 1998, the interior was designed as a love letter to Tuscany, with the main dining room modeled after a Tuscan courtyard by the owner’s father and hand-painted murals by his mother-in-law depicting the Italian landscape. The front bar is a great spot to sit, but the back dining room is where the atmosphere really stands out.

The menu covers wood-fired pizzas, freshly made pastas, and a solid selection of chicken, veal, and seafood dishes. The chicken roasted in the wood-burning oven with garlic, sausage, and spicy cherry peppers is a standout, and the veal marsala consistently gets strong reviews. The garlic knots that arrive before the meal are also worth mentioning.

Directly next door is the Joanina Wine Shop, an enoteca stocked with Italian wines and international selections. They run periodic tastings, and anything you try there can be brought next door for dinner. It makes for a genuinely enjoyable way to start the evening.

The Farm Italy

The Farm Italy

The Farm Italy is one of the hardest reservations to get in Huntington Village, and the buzz is justified. It comes from the same team behind Besito and In The Shed, and brings a similar approach built around a lively atmosphere and consistent food. The focus here is on the simplicity of Italian cooking done well, with fresh pastas, wood-fired dishes, and a creative cocktail menu that keeps the bar busy on its own.

It is one of the louder restaurants in Huntington on weekend nights, which is worth knowing going in. But if that doesn’t bother you, the food delivers. The Huntington location was the original, and the concept has since expanded to Westbury and Mohegan Sun, which says something about how well it has landed with Long Island diners.

House of Yoshin

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

House of Yoshin is one of the most exciting additions to the Huntington dining scene in recent memory, and one of the most distinctive restaurant concepts on Long Island. Chef Tadaaki “Zack” Ishizaki brings an elite résumé that includes the three Michelin-starred Château Restaurant Joël Robuchon in Tokyo and the two Michelin-starred ODO in Manhattan, and he has brought that level of precision to an intimate 10-seat counter in Huntington Village.

At the center of the experience is a $180 omakase-style tasting menu (prix fixe), with an optional beverage pairing for $98. While often described as omakase, the experience leans more toward kaiseki, a centuries-old Japanese multi-course format rooted in seasonality and balance. Unlike traditional omakase, which focuses primarily on raw fish, this is a refined, composed tasting menu that blends both cooked and raw preparations into a seamless progression of 16 courses.

The experience is highly interactive, with elements like tableside torching and chef-led presentation, making it feel as much like a performance as a meal. Ingredients are sourced at the highest level, with seafood flown directly from Japan, and the menu evolves regularly around seasonal themes. Seatings are limited and typically offered at 6:00pm and 8:15pm from Wednesday through Sunday, and reservations are required well in advance.

For those not ready to commit to the full tasting menu, House of Yoshin also offers a walk-in cocktail bar experience. This side of the restaurant features a more traditional à la carte menu with Japanese-inspired small plates, raw bar selections, and larger dishes like the Wagyu Katsu Bliss, alongside a strong cocktail program. There is also a notable Japanese whisky selection, making it a worthwhile stop even without a reservation.

Upstairs, a members-only whisky lounge offers access to rare Japanese whiskies curated by a dedicated consultant. Membership runs $5,000 per year per person (applied as house credit) and allows guests to bring up to four visitors.

House of Yoshin opened in April 2025, just after I moved away from nearby Northport. Had the timing been different, this would absolutely be a special occasion stop, and the whisky lounge would be a serious temptation.

Prime

Prime

Prime is one of the most upscale dining experiences in Huntington, and it has held this level for years. The location alone sets it apart, sitting on Huntington Harbor with outdoor seating that offers some of the best waterfront views of any restaurant on Long Island. The custom glass wall in the main dining room brings those views inside as well, making it a natural choice for special occasions and private events.

The menu leans into what Prime does best: a curated raw bar, fresh fish, and USDA certified dry-aged steaks. It is on the pricier side, but the Power Lunch prix fixe is worth knowing about if you want to experience the ambiance without the full dinner price tag. Sunday brunch adds live jazz and harbor views to the mix, and it is covered in more depth in my guide to the best breakfast and brunch in Huntington NY.

Prime is technically in Halesite, just north of Huntington Village, but it’s close enough that leaving it off this list would be doing you a disservice.

Besito

Besito Mexican Restaurant

Besito is an upscale Mexican restaurant from the same team behind The Farm Italy and In The Shed, and it fits right alongside them as one of the most consistently busy spots in Huntington Village. The concept was built around years of immersion in Mexican cuisine and travel, and that shows in a menu that offers more depth than most people expect from a Mexican restaurant on Long Island.

Specialties include fresh tableside guacamole, enchiladas suizas, and a variety of tacos and ceviche. The margarita menu is extensive and worth spending time on. Sunday brunch is also a draw here, with a separate menu that pulls in its own crowd each week. In addition to Huntington, there are locations in Roslyn and West Islip.

Besito also appears in my guide for best Sunday Brunch in Huntington.

Ravagh Persian Grill

Khoresh Gheymeh at Ravagh Persian Grill

Ravagh Persian Grill is an outpost of the original New York City location, and it brings one of the more distinctive dining experiences in Huntington Village. Persian cuisine doesn’t get the same attention as Italian or Mexican on Long Island, which makes Ravagh worth seeking out if you haven’t tried it.

The menu features a strong selection of kebabs, including the Lamb Shish Kebab and Chicken Shish Kebab, both known for their marination and char-grilled flavor. But the dishes worth going out of your way for are the classic Persian stews. Khoresh Gheymeh and Khoresh Fesenjan are both slow-simmered with ingredients like dried lemons and pomegranate paste that you won’t find anywhere else in the area. Vegetarians are also well served, with a Vegetarian Kebab and several solid salad options.

Sapsuckers

Draft beer offerings at Sapsuckers in Huntington, NY.
Sapsuckers

Sapsuckers is a craft beer gastropub that has been a Huntington Village fixture since 2010, and it earns that status. The bar up front is the best seat in the house, with sixteen rotating lines of craft beer, many of them small production and genuinely hard to find elsewhere. The cocktail list and happy hour round it out nicely if beer isn’t your thing.

The food goes well beyond typical pub fare. The kitchen sources from small farms and uses organic meats, artisanal breads, and seasonal produce, which shows in the quality of everything from the appetizers to the entrees. The menu covers a lot of ground: elevated starters like homemade pierogies and organic wings, a strong sandwich and taco section, and proper entrees including a braised beef short rib, swordfish steak, and house-made pastas from Chef Nino. The Philly Mignon sandwich made with filet mignon tips is the kind of thing that makes you realize this goes well beyond a standard bar menu.

The setting matches the ambition, with ebony-stained mahogany, a hand-patina copper tin ceiling, and vintage lighting that makes it feel polished without being pretentious.

Bistro Cassis

Croque Madame at Bistro Cassis

Bistro Cassis captures a Parisian bistro feel to Huntington Village, and it does it well. The interior is the first thing you notice: ornate tin ceilings, carved cherry pilasters, marble pillars, and oversized antique mirrors that make the room feel like it was lifted straight from the Left Bank. It’s one of the more distinctive dining rooms on Long Island.

The menu is classic French bistro done right. It’s one of my go-to lunch spots, particularly for the Croque Madame paired with an espresso martini, which is a combination I’ll defend to anyone. The moules frites come in several preparations and make for a great lighter option. Beyond that, the menu covers French staples like Salade Niçoise and Boeuf Bourguignon, along with a selection of house-made desserts.

FRENCH BISTRO

Urubamba Pisco Bar

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Urubamba Pisco Bar brings something genuinely different to Huntington Village. It’s an extension of Urubamba, New York’s oldest Peruvian restaurant, which has been operating in the city since 1970, and it carries that legacy into a modern, cozy setting on New York Avenue.

The cuisine centers on Nikkei cooking, a fusion born from the historical Japanese immigration to Peru that blends bold Peruvian flavors with Japanese culinary techniques. The result is a menu that stands completely apart from anything else in Huntington. Standout dishes include the ceviche clasico, grilled octopus, Lomo Saltado, and a Peruvian paella. The Pollo a la Brasa is marinated for over 24 hours and served with authentic sauces including aji pollero and aji verde de huacatay. For heartier options, the ribeye and short rib are both well regarded.

The pisco cocktail program is a genuine draw on its own, with artisanally crafted cocktails and mocktails that are worth exploring even if you’re just stopping in for drinks. For anyone new to Peruvian cuisine, the staff is knowledgeable and happy to walk you through the menu. This is another exciting new spot that adds something different to the dining scene.

Bar Petite

Bar Petite

Bar Petite is a family-owned cocktail bar and small plates spot a few blocks from the center of Huntington Village, and it has built one of the most loyal followings of any restaurant in the area. Despite the name, the bar itself is small and fills up quickly, so grabbing a table is often the smarter move. The room is intimate and cozy with a vintage vibe, and live music occasionally fills the corner, which adds to the atmosphere without overwhelming the space.

The menu is built around globally inspired small plates meant to be shared, and the approach works well here. Dishes like fire roasted artichokes, pan seared potstickers, Cajun shrimp, tuna tacos, and bacon-wrapped apricots give you a sense of the range. The charcuterie and cheese boards are a strong way to start, and the beef ravioli with Marsala mushroom sauce has developed a following of its own. The handcrafted martinis and cocktails are a serious draw and live up to the billing.

Happy hour runs daily from 5 to 6:30pm with discounted small plates and drinks, which makes it one of the better deals in Huntington Village.

The Last Word

The Last Word

The Last Word is the best cocktail bar in Huntington, and one of the best on the North Shore. The bar itself is small and fills up, but there are tables in the front and a fuller dining area in the back that gives it more of a restaurant feel than you might expect walking in. It hosts jazz nights and other events that make it worth checking the schedule before you go.

The cocktail program is the main draw and it is genuinely creative, leaning into craft techniques like infusions, house-made ingredients, and unexpected finishes. The It’s Magic Baby is finished with lemon citrus smoke, and the Tequila Con Cafe takes the espresso martini format and rebuilds it with tequila and a foamy chocolate air. They are the kind of drinks that might make you stay for another round.

The food is shareable plates with Latin-American influences, well executed enough that it keeps you comfortable for a long evening without ever competing with the cocktails for your attention. That’s exactly how it should work at a place like this.

Old Fields BBQ

Old Fields BBQ

Good BBQ is hard to find on Long Island, and Old Fields is one of the few spots that genuinely delivers. The setup is casual and a little different from a typical restaurant. You order at the counter in the back, then bring your food to a table or grab a seat at the bar. It sounds unconventional, but it works well here, and the bar is actually a great place to settle in for a while.

The focus is squarely on BBQ, and the kitchen does it well. Everything is sold by the half pound minimum, and the brisket, baby back ribs, and pulled pork are all worth ordering. They also have cocktails and a happy hour that makes it an easy place to linger longer than you planned.

In The Shed

In The Shed

In The Shed is a casual American restaurant that serves brunch all day alongside a full lunch and dinner menu, which makes it one of the more flexible spots in Huntington Village. The rustic, beachy atmosphere and outdoor seating are part of the draw, and the cocktail menu keeps the bar busy well into the evening.

The all-day brunch section is what most people come for, and dishes like the biscuit Benedict and chicken and waffles with habanero honey have built a loyal following. If brunch is your main focus, In The Shed features prominently in my guide to the best breakfast and brunch in Huntington NY. But the menu goes well beyond breakfast, with burgers, sandwiches, salads, and dinner entrees that make it just as valid an option for a weeknight meal. No reservations, first come first served.

Huntington is the original location, and the concept has expanded across Long Island to Westbury, Plainview, and West Sayville, plus Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

1653 Pizza Company

1653 Pizza Company is one of the better pizza spots on Long Island, which is a meaningful claim in an area that takes its pizza seriously. It sits a step above a typical pizzeria, with a full cocktail menu and a restaurant atmosphere that makes it worth sitting down rather than just grabbing a slice to go. That said, takeout is popular here too and the pies travel well.

If you want to dig deeper into what makes 1653 worth visiting, I cover it in more detail in my guide to the best pizza on Long Island.

Caruso's Fine Italian Foods

Caruso's Fine Italian Foods

Caruso’s Fine Italian Foods is not a restaurant, but leaving it off a guide to eating well in Huntington would be doing you a disservice. Located just north of Huntington Village in Halesite, it is part Italian deli, part butcher, and part grocery, and it does all three exceptionally well.

The sandwiches and daily specials are a big draw at lunch, with rotating options that go beyond the standard deli fare. The butcher section carries Italian sausages, pork chops, and other cuts worth knowing about. But the real gem is the prepared foods case, which is stocked with a full rotation of Italian specialties ready to take home and heat up. Lasagna, pastas, meatballs, broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, grilled artichokes, fresh mozzarella, bruschetta, chickpea salad, cucumber salad, and more, all made in house. It is the kind of place where you stop in for a sandwich and leave with dinner for the whole family.

Caruso’s also does catering, and it is a natural fit for an event. Trays of pasta, chicken, veal, pork, and eggplant dishes make excellent mains, and the antipasto, rice balls, and other appetizers round out a spread without much effort on your end.

If you are spending time in Huntington and want to bring a little bit of it home with you, this is the stop.
