Best Restaurants in Beacon, NY

Beacon, New York has developed one of the most interesting dining scenes in the Hudson Valley, and it’s grown alongside the town itself. Most of the best restaurants in Beacon NY are concentrated along Main Street, making it easy to move between spots on foot. This works well if you’re spending the day at Dia Beacon or hiking Mount Beacon before dinner.

The overall vibe leans casual. The Roundhouse is one of the few restaurants in Beacon New York that approaches a more polished, upscale setting, but most of Main Street is relaxed, neighborhood-driven, and unpretentious. From refined sit-down restaurants and international cuisine to casual brunch counters and coffee shops, Beacon NY offers more variety than its size might suggest.

Below are some of the best restaurants in Beacon, New York, whether you’re planning a day trip from New York City, spending a weekend in the Hudson Valley, or just looking for a good meal after a morning on the trails. Beacon is one of the easiest Hudson Valley towns to reach without a car as it’s a direct stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line from Grand Central. This makes it one of the most popular weekend destinations in the region for New York City visitors.

Wonderbar operates as both a cocktail bar and a full restaurant on Main Street in Beacon, New York. While it’s often known for its drinks, the kitchen holds its own, so it’s worth coming for a full meal, not just a stop at the bar.

Lyonshare Public House

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Lyonshare is one of the more exciting additions to Beacon, NY’s dining scene in recent years and the winner of Chronogram Magazine’s 2025 Reader’s Choice Award for best new restaurant in the Hudson Valley. It opened in late 2024 by Bud Schmeling, formerly of Peter Luger Steakhouse, Gage & Tollner, and Brooklyn’s Black Betty, and brings a level of polish that hasn’t been common on Main Street.

The space is warm and elegant without feeling overdone, with white marble, brass accents, a baby grand piano in the corner, and bistro-style lighting that gives the room a softer feel. The menu leans classic American bistro, with dishes like char-grilled steaks, oysters, fried chicken with creamy slaw and biscuits, and a rich mac and cheese that has become a popular order. Brunch is also available on weekends.

If Beacon has been missing a true destination restaurant in the Roundhouse tier but with a livelier, more neighborhood feel, Lyonshare fills that role. It’s worth making a reservation ahead of time, especially on weekends.

Meyers Olde Dutch

Beacon, New York doesn’t have traditional fast-food chains like McDonald’s or Wendy’s, so when you’re craving a straightforward burger on Main Street, Meyer’s Olde Dutch fills that role and does it well.

The Double Dutch Burger is the go-to order, especially paired with hand-cut fries. While burgers are the focus, the chicken sandwich is also a solid alternative. The casual setup and beer selection make it an easy and unpretentious stop for a relaxed meal in Beacon NY.

Moreish

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Moreish brings British comfort food to Main Street in Beacon, New York, which is not something you see often in the Hudson Valley. The focus is on hearty, straightforward dishes rather than overly refined plates, and it’s one of the more interesting newer additions to the Beacon NY dining scene.

Expect classics like fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, and other pub-style staples. Portions tend to be generous, and the menu leans into familiar flavors done well rather than reinvention. It’s the kind of cooking you don’t see often around here.

Quinn's

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Quinn’s is one of the more distinctive spots on Main Street in Beacon, New York, and one that takes a minute to understand. From the outside it looks like an old diner, but step inside and you’ll find stained glass lamps, low lighting, and a cozy, slightly eccentric room that feels somewhere between a Japanese izakaya and a neighborhood dive bar.

The food leans toward Japanese comfort cooking, with dishes like karaage, takoyaki, ramen, chashu pork buns, and donburi bowls, alongside a strong sake list, craft beer, and creative cocktails. The ramen in particular has built a following. Quinn’s also hosts regular live music, from jazz to more experimental sets, which makes it one of the better late-night options in Beacon NY for a drink and something to eat after dinner elsewhere.

It’s worth noting that the kitchen closes earlier than the bar, so check their Instagram if you’re planning a late meal.

Red Pepper Diner

Created with Fabric.js 4.6.0

Red Pepper Diner sits on Fishkill Avenue, a short drive from downtown Beacon, and is one of those spots that locals know about and visitors rarely find on their own. From the outside, you wouldn’t expect it, but inside is some of the most interesting and carefully prepared food in the Beacon area, with a menu built entirely around Sri Lankan cuisine.

Owner and chef Saman Munaweera cooks with a focus on authentic Sri Lankan flavors. The menu includes dishes like deviled chicken sautéed with onions, peppers, and traditional spices; rice and curry with a house coconut milk sauce; hoppers, which are thin, bowl-shaped rice flour pancakes served with egg and curry; kothu roti; and a handful of other dishes that are hard to find anywhere else in the Hudson Valley. The watalappan, a spiced coconut custard similar to flan, is the dessert to order.

The room is small and cozy, and the owner is welcoming and happy to walk you through the menu. The food consistently earns some of the highest ratings of any restaurant in Beacon NY. You will need a car to get here from Main Street, and it’s closed on Tuesdays, but it’s well worth the short detour.
