New York City may be known as the Big Apple, but upstate New York has over 600 apple orchards. And not all the apples are for eating. Many apples that are grown in upstate NY are now used to create hard apple cider. So I decided to head up to the Hudson Valley region to taste some local New York state ciders at Angry Orchard (in Ulster County) and Fishkill Farms (Dutchess County) where they make their brand Treasury Cider. You can even go apple picking at Fishkill Farms and then stay for the cider and food afterward. And don’t forget to try the cider donuts! Overall, going to the apple orchards made for a great getaway for a fall weekend!
